Book of Power

Searching Will Not Find It.

It's not as if searching is useless. It's just that it won't always work. There's an old story I've heard of a young man on his vision quest. He goes out multiple times, beating his chest, screaming for a vision. He fails every time to get a vision. And each time he fails, he goes out with more ferver, determined that his vision will come, and will be special. Finally, he just gives up. He goes out one last time, but he really doesn't expect anything. Buy yhat's when his vision comes. The wise old woman who told me this story said, "the universe cannot be commanded" and I agree. Neither can our unconcious be forced to deliver. Sometimes you've got to just get down off it, and the answer will come.

Stop Talking

Page 2 of the Book of PowerStop Talking: Page 2 of the Book of Power. The trouble with being quiet, some people think, is that then you'll be subject to other people's thoughts. How do you know that the little voice is really yours, and does not belong to your mother or father, or significant other? Well, you don't, but you can let your body be your guide. Once you hear the voice inside, check for where it lives in your body. Listen to it. If it's coming from the depths, it may be speaking in metaphor rather than about the mundane.

Meditation

Meditate

This is the first page of the book of power. The circle is a brush painting meditation. Once the brush is placed on the page, the circle must be created quickly, otherwise all the ink will drain out at the starting place. One complete circle. It's part of the meditation for me that no circle is perfect. Each brush drawing is different. Each moment—even if repeating the same task over and over again—is different.
