Sometime in June 2006, I had a dream in which I was told to get the domain While We Wait. So I dutifully did it. I went out and registered whilewewait.net and whilewewait.org. Whilewewait.com was already taken.
The name seemed signifant somehow, in that way that dreams often are, and I began asking my friends what it meant to them. Everyone had a different answer about what "while we wait" meant to them. For some it was a realization of duty. "Look what is happening in the world while we wait! We've got to get off our butts!" For others it was preparedness, "While we wait for the next earthquake, we need to be prepared."
Right now, it means to me that while we wait to wake from this dream, we can make ourselves useful. So log in, sign on, and contribute what you do while we wait. I can't wait to see what you do.
A funny note: I didn't realize till February of 2008 that the initial letters of while we wait are www.
